French boss praises the way his side coped with crowd and conditions

Laurent Blanc was delighted with the way his French side coped with a partisan home crowd to claim a vital win over Ukraine in a stormy Donetsk. After the game was dramatically delayed for nearly an hour thanks to a fierce thunderstorm and torrential downpour, France outplayed the home side to take the spoils thanks to goals from Menez and Cabaye after the break. Blanc's side kept full control after scoring twice within three minutes, not allowing Ukraine to make the most of their home advantage. The home side were roundly booed by sections of their own fans after the final whistle, and the French boss feels there is more to come from his side, who face Sweden in their final Group D game on Tuesday. "Tonight I really enjoyed watching France play," Blanc told M6 Television.

Progress

"We scored two goals and we could have scored a few more. We're progressing. Everything isn't perfect but the players know that we have a potential that just needs further progress. "Each match is different. Tonight we were better than Ukraine and God knows it wasn't easy because they had a whole stadium behind them."
