FFF chairman Noel Le Graet says that he is no rush to discuss a new contract with national team coach Laurent Blanc.

FFF chief in no hurry to extend coach's current deal

French Football Federation chairman Noel Le Graet says that he is no rush to discuss a new contract with national team coach Laurent Blanc. Blanc's current deal runs out next summer following the Euro 2012 finals in Poland and Ukraine, and he recently said that he wants to sort out his future before the start of the competition. However, Le Graet is not in a hurry to engage in talks with the 45-year-old but insists that he rates his compatriot very highly. "Indeed, it [the contract extension] is not topical," he told L'Equipe. "That case has not been discussed among FFF executive committee members.

Right moment

"But that is neither a positive nor a negative sign. Last summer I extended the contract of Bruno Bini, coach of the French women's team, immediately after the World Cup. "We will talk with Laurent at the right moment. I am very happy we have qualified for the Euros." However, Le Graet admitted that he would not be able to stop Blanc should a big club come calling for his services. "Could Blanc join a club in the future? Laurent has shown he has all the qualities needed to manage a national team or a big club," he stated. "I would not be able to hold him back."
