Serbia have apologised to Italy for the crowd trouble which forced the abandonment of their match on Tuesday.
Violent clashes outside the ground and unacceptable behaviour inside it forced a midweek Euro 2012 qualifier to be cancelled.
The game was called off after just six minutes of play, but angry confrontations continued through the night in Genoa.
The unsightly scenes left 16 people injured, including two police officers.
Punished
Serbia, ashamed of the actions of a small minority of their population, have apologised to their Italian counterparts for the disruption they caused.
Italy's foreign minister Franco Frattini said on Wednesday: "I have just received a phone call from Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic, who presented a formal apology from the government."
Jeremic has also promised "to intensify the search for those responsible and to capture the criminals who will be punished to set an example."
Serbia's next competitive fixture sees them play host to Northern Ireland on 25th March, 2011.
