Reid and Carsley back for Ireland

EVERTON'S Lee Carsley and Blackburn's Steven Reid have been recalled to the Republic of Ireland squad for the vital Group 10 Euro 2004 qualifier against Russia at Lansdowne Road next month.

Carsley and Reid missed the 2-1 victory over Australia in a friendly in Dublin last week with knee and ankle problems respectively.

Both have recovered and are included in the 24-man squad for the clash on September 6.

Republic boss Brian Kerr also gives call-ups to new Cardiff striker Alan Lee and Nottingham Forest midfielder Stephen McPhail, who is currently on a three-month loan from Leeds.

Lee gets the call to help fill the void left by Robbie Keane who picked up an ankle injury in the game against Australia.

The 24-man squad also applies to the friendly against Turkey at Lansdowne Road on September 9.
