Stephen Ward has warned Scotland that the Republic of Ireland will not surrender their unbeaten European Qualifiers start without a fight ahead of their clash next month.
Ireland will head to Celtic Park in Glasgow on November 14th as joint leaders of Group D with Poland, three points ahead of the Scots.
The Republic maintained their unbeaten start to qualifying with a dramatic 1-1 draw with Germany on Tuesday night while Scotland drew 2-2 with Poland in Warsaw.
Ward said the stakes could not be higher, with both sides hopeful of at least a play-off place.
The Burnley full-back said: "We are unbeaten. We go to Scotland next month, which is going to be a massive game now with their result tonight.
"I'm sure they won't have believed that we have got a point here, so that will be a massive game.
“But unbeaten in three is a great start to the group."
Ireland snatched a point against the world champions after John O’Shea’s dramatic injury-time goal in his 100th cap after Toni Kroos had given the home side the lead.
Ward, 29, rubbished claims that his side were lucky to grab a draw in Gelsenkirchen.
"I'm hoping people don't say we were lucky because you have to make your own luck and defend well and work hard as a team," he said.
"Anyone would have taken that result at the start.
“Fordey (goalkeeper David Forde) started to make saves - and thankfully we have got him in great form when he needs to be - but there are not many chances I would look back on and say it was a clear-cut chance where they could have scored."
