Johan Cruyff says Holland are confident ahead of their game with Scotland, but they will need to be at their best.

Holland legend admits his country will need to be at their best

Holland legend Johan Cruyff says the Dutch are confident going into Saturday's crucial World Cup qualifier with Scotland - but they will need to be at their best to beat George Burley's side. Bert van Marwijk's men have a perfect record in Group 9 and are already five points ahead of the Scots, who are in second in the table. Cruyff is targeting two more victories in Saturday's game against the Scots and when they take on Macedonia at home on Wednesday. But the three-time European Footballer of the Year believes Van Marwijk's side will need to be at their best in the Amsterdam ArenA to defeat the Scots. Cruyff said: "They know that they play two home games and if they win both, they have 90 per cent qualified.

Big step

"Holland are at home and they will have the atmosphere. Holland, when they win, take a big step forward. "They are quite confident. If you take nine points from three games, you have to be confident." He added: "Normally the Scots are quite good in the air so they (Holland) have got to make sure they play on the ground. "So that means no corners against and no stupid free-kicks. Not just balls in the air, but balls that you can dispute. "Holland have got to play a game where there are no half-passes. If there is too much tackling then Holland are not at their strongest. (Arjen) Robben won't tackle. (Dirk) Kuyt, yes but the other ones? "It's not a team that will force tackles and go one-on-one. They prefer to push the ball around and avoid their opponents. Holland need to keep the ball under control."
Pressley upbeat
But Scotland coach Steven Pressley insists Burley's side can beat the Dutch if they keep their discipline. He knows it will be tough in the Amsterdam ArenA as he was part of the Scotland side which were thrashed 6-0 there in 2003 in the second leg of their Euro 2004 play-off. Pressley said: "I think that was the disappointment of the game the last time we were out there, not just the result but the performance that night. "You can accept being beaten by a better side but it's the manner of the defeat. "The one thing we must make sure we do is give a good account of ourselves as a team, that we make life very difficult for Holland and ensure they are well aware they have been in a proper game of football. "If we do that, maintain our discipline and our organisation, we can win the game."
