Sir Trevor Brooking has reiterated the Football Association will be waiting until the latter stages of the season to name England's new permanent head coach.
Under-21s boss Stuart Pearce took control of the senior side for the 3-2 international friendly defeat to Holland at the end of last month in the wake of Fabio Capello's exit.
Brooking knows there is a sensitivity issue over the appointment of Capello's successor as potential candidates could still be in work as their clubs approach the business end of the season.

"There's naturally a sensitivity whenever you talk about who might take over so I think we gave a clear steer," Brooking, who was speaking at the launch of The Grass Roots Football Show at FA Standard Chartered club Lichfield City FC, told
Sky Sports News HD.
"We decided we would wait until later in the season and let matters take its course during that spell. Really nothing has changed.
"We're looking until the back end of the season and hopefully let's see what emerges then."
Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is considered by many to be the favourite to replace Capello ahead of Euro 2012, although Brooking would not be drawn into revealing who was on their shortlist.
No timescale
There is no timescale on England appointing a new man and Booking does not believe there is anything in the coming weeks that could change the FA into rushing a decision.
"I'm never going to get involved in individuals. It's always quite interesting to see everyone's suggestion, but it won't make a difference," he continued.
"Naturally we know all the facts about individuals. To talk about an individual is unfair. Let everyone get on with the sensitivity within their clubs currently and we'll see at the end of the season.
"I think the latter part of the season is the right time to resolve the issue on the senior coach and I don't think in the next few weeks anything is likely to change that.
"There's no timescale. That's it and that's how it's been for quite a while. I'm pretty sure that's how it will stay."
