England boss pleased with next generation of Three Lions

Fabio Capello was impressed by Kyle Walker in England's victory over Sweden, but pointed out the 21-year-old still has a lot to learn. The Tottenham full-back produced a man-of-the-match performance on his first senior start for his country after following on from his substitute appearance against Spain on Saturday. And while Capello was full of praise for Walker, England's manager was aware of the former Sheffield United, Queens Park Rangers and Aston Villa player's defensive weaknesses. The Italian told Sky Sports News: "Walker is a very interesting player. He has got everything. "Technically he is very good. He is really fast and he plays with confidence always. He takes a risk.

Happy

"But he can improve. He needs to understand when you play with the seniors, when you play against the really important countries and teams, you need to be careful sometimes." Jack Rodwell, 20, and Phil Jones, 19, both started the match among England's midfielders as the Three Lions recorded their first win over Sweden since 1968. Daniel Majstorovic's first-half own goal earned a deserved win and Capello was pleased by the young contingent of his team as he plans for Euro 2012. But England's boss was also disappointed with some of the lack of creativity of his team when in possession. "I am really happy because some young players played really well, like Jones and Rodwell," said Capello.
Risks
"I am happy for the result that after 43 years England beat Sweden. I am not happy because sometimes, when we had the ball in the back four, we played too many balls to the 'keeper. "We need to improve in this case. We need to improve the passes and the movement without the ball. "And sometimes you need to take some risks because it is impossible to play long balls when they have players so tall like Sweden." The victory ensured England ended 2011 without suffering defeat and Capello thought there are positive signs. "I am happy for the result. I am happy because I found the young players are ready to play for the seniors," he said. "It will be a big competition for the older players who usually play for the national team."
