Blues striker knows side need to improve results against top teams

Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka believes his side need to improve their results against the top teams if they are to have any hope of winning the Premier League. The Blues have taken just one point against their two title rivals in Liverpool and Manchester United this season. The recent defeat to Liverpool last weekend saw Chelsea slip into third place, five points behind leaders United having played a game more than the champions. But despite the precarious nature of their title challenge the French striker remains optimistic. "The title hasn't yet been lost, but it will be really hard now," he wrote in his weekly column. "Since the beginning of the season we have not succeeded in our matches against the big teams. "Our rivals are as strong as us, we have to do more, in the battles, in technique. "It's our duty to do better and to step up a gear. Against the big teams we have never been at the level of the real Chelsea." Anelka has also been impressed with new loan signing Ricardo Quaresma from Inter. "We have just welcomed Ricardo Quaresma, I have done two training sessions with him," he added. "He is very skilful, intelligent. He will bring a lot to the team."
