Welcome to Day Nine in Euro 2008: the PlayStation 2 equivalent. Last time out we witnessed a couple of draws in Group D. Now it's time to conclude proceedings in Group A. That takes some of the pressure off the Swiss, who promptly fall behind in Basel when Nuno Gomes taps into an empty net to put Portugal ahead. Cristiano Ronaldo then hits the post. Following half-time at the Stade de Geneve, Petr Cech produces a wonderful one-handed save from Tuncay as the Turks launch a siege on the Czech goal. Meanwhile, Nuno Gomes scores again for Portugal after a rush of blood from keeper Diego Benaglio sees him charge out of his penalty area and fail to claim. But there is no way past Cech for Turkey, and they end the tournament without a goal - sending Switzerland through to the last eight as Group A runners-up to Portugal. Final scores: Switzerland 0 Portugal 2, Turkey 0 Czech Republic 1. Group standings: Portugal 7pts, Switzerland 4pts, Czech Republic 3pts, Turkey 2pts. Portugal advance to face the Group B runners-up in Basel, while Switzerland must head across the border for their quarter-final in Vienna. The two opponents in those games will be revealed when we conclude Group B...
