Blues right-back picks up adductor strain ahead of Valencia clash

Chelsea defender Jose Bosingwa missed training on Monday ahead of his club's UEFA Champions League clash against Valencia. The Portugal international sat out the session due to an adductor strain and he is unlikely to play in Tuesday's final Group E game due to Branislav Ivanovic's solid performances of late. Nicolas Anelka and Alex also did not train with their team-mates after being dropped from the first-team squad because of their interest in leaving the club - both players are likely to move in the January transfer window. Andre Villas-Boas is rumoured to want Bolton defender Gary Cahill and it has also been reported that he will make new bids for Tottenham playmaker Luka Modric and Porto's Alvaro Pereira, who Chelsea tried to buy in the summer. Villas-Boas also needs to decide whether to sell Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou due to both of their contracts expiring at the end of the season. Bosingwa and Paulo Ferreira have also been linked with exiting the club and this may become clearer if they get knocked out of the Champions League. The Blues have never exited the competition before Christmas but if they fail to beat or keep a clean sheet against Unai Emery's in-form side on Tuesday.
