Betis winger in no rush to secure summer switch

Mark Gonzalez insists he is in no hurry to complete a move away from Real Betis. The Chile international is currently facing up to the prospect of life in the Spanish second division following Betis' relegation last season. He was expected to be among those heading for the exits this summer following that demotion, but he has yet to secure a switch elsewhere. Greek giants Olympiakos and Turkish outfit Fenerbahce are reported to be interested, but no approach has been made as yet. Gonzalez claims he is not pushing for a transfer to be put in place and has revealed that he would be happy to start the new season at Betis if nothing materialises.

Distraction

"I am OK and I won't get distracted by what is being said about me," he said. "I am one just player of Betis and I am not worried about what will happen. "I am working hard and anything to do with a transfer is being handled by my agent. I remain dedicated to my work with the team." The former Liverpool winger added: "We didn't have the performances last season which was expected from us and that's why we got relegated. "Now what we have to do is focus on the games in the second division and try to get promoted back again as soon as possible."
