Caen boss Frank Dumas has made an approach, but Sparta are looking to see if they can persuade the marksman to extend his contract in Rotterdam.
"It's true that we are not in urgent need to let him go," said Sparta director Peter Bonthuis.
"Caen trainer Dumas has contacted me. I have answered that firstly we want to try and tie him to the club for longer.
"If we don't reach agreement, then Caen can always still make an offer."
Adri van Tiggelen has signed a deal to stay on as the assistant to Wiljan Vloet at Sparta.
Van Tiggelen had been expected to move to amateur side Doto, but he has now opted to stay at Sparta for at least one more season.
