Morocco international looking forward to Premier League challenge

Karim El Ahmadi is looking forward to completing a proposed move to Aston Villa and testing himself against the Premier League elite. Villa are close to reaching an agreement with Eredivisie outfit Feyenoord for the Morocco international. It is understood that officials from both sides will meet in the next few days to thrash out the finer details of the transfer. El Ahmadi is confident a deal will be done, with his thoughts having already turned to life at Villa Park. He cannot wait to compete against the stars of the English top-flight, with the time right for him to take a sizeable step forward in his career.

Top club

"Aston Villa is a top club," the highly-rated midfielder told the Express and Star. "I will miss Feyenoord, but nobody will blame me for taking this step. "I am looking forward to playing against clubs like Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal." New Villa boss Paul Lambert is keen to finalise El Ahmadi's arrival in time for the start of pre-season training on 5th July. Should he prove successful in his efforts, the 27-year-old will become his first signing since quitting Norwich City to take the managerial reins at Villa Park.
