A Dirk Kuyt hat-trick inspired Feyenoord to a thumping 7-2 away win at De Graafschap.

Kuyt struck the first of his treble after just four minutes at De Vijverberg, although Rene Bot did equalise five minutes later for the hosts.

That proved to just be a temporary respite for De Graafschap, as Feyenoord then proceeded to inflict a comprehensive beating on their struggling opponents.

Romeo Castelen made it 2-0 before Kuyt added a third just after the half hour mark.

Danko Lazovic then added a quick-fire brace before Nicky Hofs made it 6-1 just after an hour had been played.

With De Graafschap reeling, Huyt took his chance to grab a hat-trick and he completed his treble on 67 minutes, with still plenty of time to add more goals.

The home side did produce a late rally and they completed the scoring when Jhon van Beukering made it 7-2 five minutes before the end.

Willem II enjoyed a comfortable 3-1 win at home to NEC Nijmegen, with goals from Jatto Ceesay, Arvid Smit and Iwan Redan putting the hosts in cruise control.

Romano Denneboom pulled one back for NEC 12 minutes from time but it was not enough to get them back into the contest.
