Ajax and FC Twente's reserve sides will participate in the Jupiler League next season, the second professional league in the Netherlands.

The decision was made after two clubs from the league were declared bankrupt.

The Dutch FA and the 16 remaining clubs came together to decide that the reserve squads from the two Eredivisie sides as well as two amateur sides will be allowed to join the league.

Part-time sides VV Katwijk and Achilles '29 have been invited to join the new look set up.

Bert van Oostveen KNVB director said: "I am very proud that it's finally possible to promote from the amateur level, the Topklasse, to the First Division, but that also clubs from the First Division can relegate. This is a major breakthrough."
