Wilkshire eyes Dutch move

Luke Wilkshire has revealed he is close to joining FC Twente after a successful trial.

Luke Wilkshire has revealed he is close to joining FC Twente after a successful trial at the Dutch outfit.

The former Middlesbrough man linked up with Twente last week as he looks for a new club after leaving Bristol City.

Wilkshire has attracted the interest of a host of clubs after his impressive performances for Australia at this summer's World Cup finals.

However, FC Twente are leading the chase for his signature after inviting him to train with them.

"I've been offered the chance to play in Holland and I believe the technical style of the football over there will suit me," Wilkshire told City's official website.

"I think The Premiership in England is probably the best league in the world and I would like to test myself in it one day, but I'm looking forward to playing in Dutch football."
