PSV Eindhoven have wrapped up the permanent capture of Edison Mendez.

PSV Eindhoven have wrapped up the permanent capture of Ecuadorian midfielder Edison Mendez.

The 27-year-old joined the Dutch champions on loan from LDU Quito at the start of the season, with a view to a permanent move.

PSV were expected to wait until next summer before making a decision on the midfielder, but such has been his impact they have opted to push through a permanent deal.

Mendez has inked a deal until the summer of 2010 and the player is thrilled to have earned a permanent contract.

"I am very happy and I must thank the coaches, the board and the people at the club," he told PSV's website.

"I want to repay them for the confidence, because as a player who is loaned you always feel you need to prove yourself."
