Ronald Koeman has revealed his surprise at PSV Eindhoven advancing to the second round of the UEFA Champions League with two games to spare.
PSV's 2-0 home success over Galatasaray on Tuesday ensured the Dutch champions joined Liverpool in qualifying from Group C.
The group was expected to be among the toughest in the first round and PSV's easy progress has taken Koeman aback.
The former Holland international is now aiming to pip Liverpool to top spot and has been pleased with how his new-look side have risen to the challenge.
"It is strange to see the group standings right now and I think we have to get used to that," said Koeman.
"It is surprising what we did in only four matches, but despite some changes we had we have a real team already.
"The new boys adjusted perfectly and the squad understands there is more in it. We have to see where it ends.
"With two matches left we want to get a maximum result."
Timmy Simons scored PSV's opening goal against Galatasaray and echoed Koeman's sentiments that the club's early qualification was unexpected.
"This is luxury and we didn't expect it after the draw because we thought it was a tough group," said Simons.
"We are getting better every week also because our performances in the Dutch league gave us more confidence.
"We have a tight team that rarely gives away any chances, while our offence is always dangerous."
