Lobont injury blow

Ajax's keeper Bogdan Lobont picked up a knee injury on Sunday.

Ajax's woes following their defeat by PSV Eindhoven were increased with the news of keeper Bogdan Lobont's injury.

Romanian shot-stopper Lobont was forced off the field after 55 minutes of the 2-0 defeat with a knee injury.

Lobont picked up the injury when landing awkwardly and was replaced by Hans Vonk.

Early indications are suggesting Lobont has strained the medial ligaments in his knee, which could well rule him out for six weeks.

Ajax coach Ronald Koeman was far from happy with his side's defeat at the hands of PSV, hinting that they do not have the power to compete with Guus Hiddink's side.

"I have always said that the physical side of football is an important element of the game," he said. "It was evident that we need to pay more attention to that aspect."

The troubles at the Amsterdam ArenA are likely to see Koeman raid the transfer market in January in a bid to add steel to his side.
