Dutch champions expect deal to go through

Ajax technical director Danny Blind expects NEC Nijmegen goalkeeper Jaspen Cillessen to join the club on a five-year deal in the near future. The Eredivisie champions' initial €1.8million bid for the 22-year-old was turned down by NEC, who wanted a more substantial offer. The Godenzonen, who are desperate to fill the void left by the departure of Maarten Stekelenburg, have since upped their bid and are waiting on a response from their Dutch rivals. Club chief Blind does not foresee any problems with the renewed offer going through and is confident the young keeper will pen a long-term deal in Amsterdam.

Confident

"The final decision has not yet been given," Blind told De Telegraaf. "But we have held discussions with Jasper and his management and there will be no problem. "As it stands now, he will sign a five-year contract. "We had an initial bid of €1.8m turned down but we have increased that by a good amount. It now depends purely on NEC."
