Spartak Moscow have denied reports they are in talks with Ajax midfielder Demy de Zeeuw over a potential transfer.
Recent reports in the Dutch media have suggested the Russian giants are close to capturing the Netherlands international in a €7million (£6.2m) deal.
But Spartak coach Valery Karpin has stamped on that speculation by insisting there has been no contact with Ajax or 28-year-old De Zeeuw.
He told Sov Sport: "The clubs have not talked and there are still no negotiations with De Zeeuw himself."
Karpin says De Zeeuw is not the only candidate on Spartak's radar as they look to bolster their midfield.
He added: "Apart from De Zeeuw, there are five players for his position who are very interesting to us."
Ajax are thought to be willing to cooperate if De Zeeuw chooses to depart Amsterdam, having already strengthened their own midfield with the arrival of Theo Janssen from FC Twente.
