Twente midfielder disappointed by team's efforts

Theo Janssen has slammed the performance of his FC Twente team-mates after they threw the title away at Ajax on Sunday. Twente needed only a draw to clinch the Eredivisie trophy in the title decider, but were beaten 3-1 at the Amsterdam Arena. And 29-year-old midfielder Janssen feels the Enschede club lacked desire. "It was clear to see who were men and who were not in this game," he told NUsport. "Yes, I'm definitely disappointed in what my team-mates showed today.

Afraid

"We came here to clinch the title, but we do not deserve it with a performance like this. "It looked like some of us were afraid to play our own game. It's impossible to win matches if you play like this. Finishing second means nothing." Fellow Twente midfielder Wout Brama agreed their performance was lacking. He added to Voetbal Primeur: "The best team won. "We have not played football today. There were too many guys playing below their level. "Throughout the match we made no claim for the title."
