Ajax will bring Kenneth Vermeer back to the club next season.

Goalkeeper to get his chance

Ajax will bring Kenneth Vermeer back to the club next season. The 22-year-old goalkeeper has been on loan at Willem II but he has found first-team chances limited. Ajax have now decided he will return to the Amsterdam ArenA as they are axing their other reserve goalkeepers. Erik Heijblok and Marco van Buin have both been told they will not be kept on. Serio Padt and Roy Ouwerkerk will become the new goalkeepers for Young Ajax. Another departure is Rydell Poepen - who like Vermeer has spent the season with Willem II. The young striker has done well at Willem with nine goals and he has two-years left on his current deal at Ajax, but he has now been told he can find a new club.

Assistants

Also looking for a new club is Alfons Groenendijk. The current assistant trainer has been informed that he will not be needed by new coach Marco van Basten when he takes to the helm in the summer. Rob Witschge and John van't Schip will work with van Basten, although another assistant still at the club Hennie Spijkerman could still remain. Finally Ajax have confirmed that they have taken up their two-year option on highly-rated winger Javier Martina - who is yet to make his first-team debut.
