Borussia Dortmund hope they will soon be able to sign a new contract with Germany international Marcel Schmelzer.

The full-back's current deal does not expire until the summer of 2014 but the club and player are keen to agree an extension.

Dortmund general manager Michael Zorc is in talks with Schmelzer and is pleased with how discussions are developing.

Zorc told Kicker: "Marcel Schmelzer is a regular part of our club's first team. He is a Germany international.

"It is a fact we are out to have Marcel playing on for our club for a long time. We are in good talks."

But unlike Schmelzer, Croatia international Ivan Perisic could be looking to leave Dortmund in January after admitting his frustration at his limited first-team opportunities.

Perisic told Croatian TV station Nova-TV: "I have no reason to be happy. I am playing even less than last season.

"I think Jurgen Klopp is the best manager in Germany but I do not feel supported by him. I am planning to talk to him."
