Bundesliga side Wolfsburg have used their option to extend Miroslav Karhan's contract for an additional year, until 2005.

And it is reported that the club have started talks with the Slovakian international about a new long-term deal to keep him at the Volkswagen-Arena.

"Yes, we are in negotiations and hope we can agree on a long-term partnership," Wolfsburg's general manager Peter Pander confirmed.

The tall midfielder, who has previously represented Spanish outfit Betis, joined the club in 2001 from Turkish giants Besiktas and has so far managed five goals in 86 Bundesliga appearances.
