Bayern Munich move top of the table

Bayern Munich moved to the top of the Bundesliga table despite being held to a 1-1 draw at strugglers Nurnberg, while Borussia Dortmund and Stuttgart both claimed convincing victories. Bayern Munich had taken the lead at the easyCredit Stadion courtesy of Thomas Muller's 38th-minute strike, but Nurnberg - who remain second bottom - equalised in the 54th minute when Ilkay Gundogan fired beyond Hans-Jorg Butt. Borussia Dortmund ended a three-game losing streak and heaped more misery on relegation-battlers Hannover with a comfortable 4-1 home victory. Defender Neven Subotic put the hosts in front just before the break and Jurgen Klopp's side doubled their advantage when Mario Eggimann turned the ball into his own net on the hour mark. Substitute Nelson Valdez added a third on 77 minutes before Arouna Kone pulled one back to give the visitors a glimmer of hope, but Kevin Grobkruetz added another with two minutes remaining to put the game beyond doubt. Cacau fired four goals as Stuttgart claimed a thumping 5-1 triumph in Cologne. The Brazilian striker gave VfB a 13th-minute lead and made it two with a drilled shot which evaded Faryd Mondragon. His third was wrapped up in the 38th minute before the hosts pulled a goal back through Christopher Schorch. Stuttgart continued to press forward after the interval with Pavel Pogrebnyak making it four before Cacau capped a fine performance with one final strike to make it six wins from seven. In the day's two remaining games, fourth-placed Hamburg were held to a goalless draw at home to Frankfurt while neither side could find the net when Mainz played host to Bochum.
