Ruud van Nistelrooy will miss Hamburg's German Cup second round clash against Eintracht Frankfurt through injury.
The Dutch striker was ruled out of Wednesday's cup tie after picking up a thigh injury, the club confirmed.
Van Nistelrooy was injured in their 0-0 draw against Bayern Munich on Friday and will join defender Collin Benjamin, who is nursing a minor knee injury, on the sidelines for the midweek match.
The 34-year-old Van Nistelrooy, in his first full season at Hamburg, is the club's top scorer so far with four goals in nine league games.
