Bayern Munich's six-game winning streak in all competitions was brought to an end as they drew 0-0 against Borussia Monchengladbach.

Bayern dominated the first half with David Alaba going closest but Gladbach, who confirmed their credentials as the Bavarians' nearest rival in the Bundesliga this season, responded well in the second half and arguably had the better chances to win it.

Lucien Favre's men were good value for their point at the Borussia Park Stadion, sending out a clear signal that the race for the title may not be as easy as Bayern may have thought.

In the day's other game, Mainz lost their unbeaten record as Wolfsburg roared into a share of second with a 3-0 win at the VW-Arena.

Naldo scored the first and set up the second for Ivan Perisic before Daniel Caligiuri got in on the act as Dieter Hecking's men made their intentions for the season clear with a commanding performance.

They could have won by a larger margin, hitting the woodwork twice, but they still improved their goal difference enough to climb above Hoffenheim, leaving Mainz in sixth.
