Goalkeeper pleased to pen new long-term contract

Stuttgart goalkeeper Sven Ulreich has signed a new long-term deal to keep him at the club until the summer of 2017. Ulreich's contract with the Bundesliga side had been set to expire in 18 months' time, but he is such an important player that they have moved to secure his services for the considerable future. The 23-year-old has been Stuttgart's No.1 since Jens Lehmann left the club in June 2010, and he is delighted to be staying at the Mercedes-Benz Arena. "I always knew about my qualities and was keen to remain at this club to help to keep up with the good work. I want to be part of the future of this club," Ulreich told Stuttgart's official website.

Happy

"I am hoping some other players will be doing the same and sign new terms here, too. Players like Julian Schieber." Stuttgart, who are currently tenth in the Bundesliga standings, have also expressed their delight at the news. General manager Fredi Bobic said: "This decision is a clear statement. "He is one of those players that is fully behind this club with his heart. We are happy to have worked those things out properly."
