Celtic manager Ronny Deila has confirmed his interest in Sporting Gijon striker Stefan Scepovic.

Deila is looking to add a greater presence to his attack and Serbia international Scepovic has been linked with a £2.5million move to Parkhead.

Gijon will reportedly allow the 24-year-old to leave, but Celtic could face competition from the likes of Werder Bremen, PSV Eindhoven, Levante, Almeria and Rayo Vallecano.

“We are looking for a bigger striker and he is one of the options,” said Deila of Scepovic. “We are looking for a target man who can be good with crosses.

“We have good strikers but they are similar. We need different things.”

Rennes defender Jean-Armel Kana-Biyik is another player to have been linked with a move to Celtic and Deila is keeping his options regarding new signings before the transfer window closes.

He added: “You never know. It’s about quality. If I feel this player can make us better I don’t care what position it is."
