Bundesliga round-up

Werder Bremen and Cologne maintained their 100 percent starts to the season.

Werder Bremen maintained their 100 percent start to the new Bundesliga season with a 2-0 win at Mainz.

Goals from Ivan Klasnic and Miroslav Klose ensured that Werder made it two wins from two in the league.

It was Klasnic who got the ball rolling after 21 minutes and German international striker Klose all but wrapped the game up just past the hour mark.

Elsewhere, newly-promoted Cologne also continued their perfect start with a fine 3-2 at much-fancied Stuttgart.

The visitors raced into a commanding three goal lead with efforts from Markus Feulner and Albert Streit (2) with just 56 minutes on the clock.

They were left to hold on, though, as Marco Streller (60) and Christian Tiffert (69) ensured a nervy finish.
