Allofs hails Valdez

WERDER BREMEN director of sport Klaus Allofs is convinced that Paraguay youngster Nelson Valdez has a glorious future ahead after scoring in the win over Schalke at the weekend.

The 19-year-old scored his debut goal during the 4-1 win, a result which lifted Werder to the top of the Bundesliga tree.

The win saw Bremen take the Bundesliga lead for the first time since the reign of legendary coach Otto Rehhagel ended in 1995 and Allofs is sure that the prodigy, who had been in outstanding form with Bremen's amateur team, will now break into the first team.

"He's incredibly dynamic, is strong in the air and tackles well, but first of all he's a real goalgetter," the former European champion said of the latest product of Bremen's successful youth academy.
