Striker blames missed chance

Germany international striker Kevin Kuranyi admits that a missed chance was responsible for Schalke's UEFA Champions League defeat to Valencia. Kuranyi shot wide after being set up by Gerald Asamoah in the first half of the clash at the Veltins Arena on Tuesday and the 25-year-old knows that things could have been different if he had found the back of the net as they went on to lose 1-0. "Of course I should have scored then. If I had done, we would have won the game," Kuranyi told the club's website. "We tried everything possible, but we were a bit unlucky. "Unfortunately we weren't able to carry on in the second half in the way we ended the first half. We weren't able to put them under enough pressure," he added. Kuranyi is, however, still confident that the Royal Blues still have a chance of reaching the last 16 despite the defeat. "We still have big plans for this season, but we know we now have to win in Trondheim," he said.
