Bochum keen on Vermant

VfL Bochum are reportedly lining up a swoop for Schalke midfielder Sven Vermant to replace the recently departed Sunday Oliseh.

Nigerian Oliseh (pictured) was sacked by the Bundesliga club after head-butting team-mate Vahid Hashemian on Saturday and now coach Peter Neururer has targeted the Belgian international as the man to fill the void.

However the 30-year-old Vermant is keen to remain with the Royal Blues after recently winning his place back in the starting line-up.

"I would like to stay at Schalke," stated Vermant. "But I'm waiting for the club to make a move in this direction.

"I just have to keep putting in good performances on the pitch."

Meanwhile, Bochum president Walter Altegoer has confirmed that Oliseh will not be given a second chance by his club.

"I've always found Oliseh to be a decent, polite and ambitious player, but there cannot be any doubt about the consequences of such an incident," explained Altegoer.
