Rost blamed Matellan, believing his mistake cost him a chance at a clean sheet, but his over-reaction surprised the South American.
After being grabbed by the neck, Matellan said after the game: "Speaking truthfully, he surprised me because never before has something like that happened to me, I have never seen something like this.
"In Argentina we have other habits, if we have a problem with any team-mate we talk in the dressing room but not in the middle of the pitch.
"Anyway, Frank then apologised for himself and everything ended in the best way but he could have found another way to say to me what he wanted to."
