Alemannia considering whether to sell one of their star assets

Schalke have emerged as favourites to land Alemannia Aachen rising star Marco Hoger. The midfielder has told his current club from the second-tier of German football that he has no plans to extend his contract. Hoger's deal at the Tivoli stadium expires in June 2012 and he is reportedly a target for various clubs from the top flight, with Schalke 04 leading the way. Former Liverpool and Preston striker Erik Meijer, Alemannia Aachen's general manager, told Aachener Zeitung: "Marco Hoger has told us he does not want to extend his contract at our club. "If a bid comes in for him from any club, we have to seriously consider selling him for money this summer or keep hold of a very good player for the final year of his contract."
