Arsenal keeper in contention for midweek outing

Jens Lehmann could make an appearance for Arsenal's reserves against Wigan on Tuesday night. The 41-year-old German was lured out of retirement by Arsene Wenger earlier this month to help solve a goalkeeping crisis at Emirates Stadium. Injuries to Wojciech Szczesny and Lukasz Fabianski had left Manuel Almunia as the only fit senior man. The Spaniard's terrible gaffe against West Brom prior to the international break has fuelled suggestions that Lehmann could soon come into the side. Wenger has been impressed by Lehmann's fitness levels but may feel he needs a run-out for the reserves at the Robin Park Arena in midweek. James Shea, 19, is normally between the posts for Neil Banfield's side, with 10 appearances so far. Wenger told Arsenal TV Online: "Jens has kept himself very fit. "He had a good basic regime, so that means he can absorb quite easily the specific work of a goalkeeper."

Aliadiere

Jeremie Aliadiere is also expected to feature for Arsenal's reserves in the game against the Latics. Aliadiere spent six seasons with the Gunners earlier in his career but is currently a free agent after being released by Middlesbrough last season. He is training with Arsenal to maintain his fitness while he looks for a new club.
