Bundesliga side to add more faces with Huntelaar set to sign

Schalke 04 boss Felix Magath admits he has more money to spend as the club close in on the imminent signing of AC Milan striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar. The two clubs have been locked in negotiations and, after Milan wrapped up the loan signing of striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic on Saturday, the move has edged a step closer to completion. The Bundesliga side have made their worst start to the league season in 23 years, despite hype surrounding their credentials after the summer star signings of Raul and Christoph Metzelder from Real Madrid. Magath admits his side still needs strengthening and Dutchman Huntelaar, who has failed to settle at the San Siro, can expect to team up with Raul, his former team-mate at Real Madrid. "We will see where we can make a few changes, we have enough money," said the former Bayern Munich coach, who could fork out up to €14million [£11.5million] for Huntelaar. "I am worried that things could get worse, so I can not leave them as they are," added Magath, whose side lost 2-1 to Hannover on Saturday. Schalke are light in reinforcements after allowing Kevin Kuranyi, Heiko Westermann, Rafinha and Marcelo Bordon to leave this summer. Another player believed to be of interest to Magath is Atletico Madrid playmaker Jose Manuel Jurado, whom the Schalke boss admitted was "a good player." Despite looking light up front, it is at the back where the club look most vulnerable after conceding four goals in their opening two games of the domestic season. Metzelder, 29, has so far failed to show the class Magath knows he possesses, and the boss is puzzled by his struggles upon returning to his homeland. "He was brought in to stabilise the defence and this is not working currently," said Magath. "He is going through a bad spell. What makes him so insecure, only he can say."
