Japanese striker heading to Germany

Japan international Yoshito Okubo is set to join VFL Wolfsburg, according to his club Vissel Kobe. The 26 year-old has reportedly agreed terms with the Bundesliga outfit and will link up with compatriot Makoto Hasebe at the Volkswagen Arena once he passes a medical on Sunday. Details of the transfer have not been disclosed to the public, but Kobe confirmed an agreement had been struck between the two parties. "The two clubs reached an agreement in monetary terms on Okubo's transfer to Wolfsburg late on Wednesday night," the club said in an official statement to the local press. The move presents another opportunity for the talented striker to prove himself in Europe after a disappointing spell with Spain's Real Mallorca in 2005 and 2006. Wolfsburg are expected to unveil their new signing sometime next week.
