Veteran defender damages tendons in his thigh

Hannover's veteran defender Michael Tarnat will miss the rest of the season with a thigh injury. The former German international hobbled out of the Reds' 2-0 defeat in Leverkusen on Sunday and extensive examinations have shown that he has damaged tendons in his left thigh and will be out of action until the summer. Tarnat, who at 38-years-old is the oldest outfield player in the Bundesliga, has made a total of 16 appearances for the club this season and adds to an ever growing injury list for Hannover coach Dieter Hecking to contend with. "It's not good, but you always have phases like this in a season," Hecking told the club's official website. "We still have a squad capable of playing good football."
