Ankle injury keeps Chelsea star out

Chelsea midfielder Michael Ballack will not be involved in Germany's friendly against England at Wembley next week. The Germany captain will sit out the match because of the ankle injury which has sidelined him at the start of the new Premier League season. Joachim Low is missing a further four injured players, after naming his 20-man squad for the game next Wednesday. Midfielders Torsten Frings and Tim Borowski and strikers Lukas Podolski and Mario Gomez are also absent from the squad. Low has handed first call-ups to Sami Khedira and Serdar Tasci, who helped Stuttgart win the Bundesliga last season. Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehmann is the only English-based player included for the friendly against Steve McClaren's side.
