Inter tracking Toni

Inter and Viola officials have met to discuss Luca Toni and Alessandro Potenza.

Internazionale and Fiorentina officials have met to discuss the futures of marksman Luca Toni and defender Alessandro Potenza, according to press reports.

Italian Under-21 international Potenza was at Real Mallorca on a season-long loan from the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza last term.

The Spaniards have the first option on the 22-year-old until the end of June, but they look likely to turn down the chance and he could move to Viola in part exchange for Serie A top-scorer Toni.

Speculation in the Italian media suggests that a meeting between Nerazzurri technical director Marco Branca and his Stadio Artemio Franchi colleague Pantaleo Corvino was used to discuss a possible deal.

Fiorentina boss Cesare Prandelli has already insisted he will keep the 31-goal man, but the club's alleged involvement in the referee-fixing scandal tarring Italian football have opened up any number of possibilities.

Should Prandelli's side be punished, Toni could well be wheeling his way to Inter in a swap deal, that could also involve Brazilian frontman Adriano.

The investigation continues.
