Torino have signed Italian left-back Cristian Molinaro on a free transfer, the Serie A club has announced.

The 30-year-old joins the Turin outfit from Parma, where he played for the past five months.

Molinaro has put pen to paper on a one-year contract with Toro, with the club holding an option to extend his stay next summer.

A statement from Torino read: "Torino Football Club is pleased to announce that it has acquired the rights of football player Cristian Molinaro: contract until 30 June 2015, with an option."

Molinaro returned to Serie A in January after spending four years with Bundesliga side Stuttgart.

The former Juventus defender scored two goals in 16 league appearances to help Parma finish sixth in Serie A in the 2013-14 campaign.

Torino, who finished one point and one place behind Parma in the standings, are set to take the Ducale club's place in the Europa League next season.

Unlike Torino, Parma were not granted a UEFA licence by the Italian Football Federation for financial irregularities.
