Abbiati happy at Torino

Christian Abbiati is hoping to turn his loan deal with Torino into a permanent move.

Christian Abbiati is hoping to turn his loan deal with Torino into a permanent move.

Torino snapped up the goalkeeper on a season-long loan from Milan in July and, after a slow start, he has repaid their trust with some impressive recent performances.

Milan are on the lookout for a new number one as Dida has yet to extend his deal with the club, but Abbiati has never been mentioned as an option for the Rossoneri.

"Evidently I'm not in their plans, but that isn't a problem. I like it here at Torino," he explained.

"I am here on a loan deal, but I hope president Urbano Cairo will opt to buy me at the end of the season.

"The first month here wasn't easy. I made several mistakes which were overly highlighted, but now I am finally living up to our supporters' expectations."

Torino face Milan on Sunday and Abbiati has urged his team-mates to go on the attack.

"We must not focus on defending as that would be a big mistake. We have to play our natural game," he said.
