Palermo's director of football Walter Sabatini admits that Denmark defender Simon Kjaer could join Steve McClaren's Wolfsburg.
The 21-year-old has been linked with a move to the Premier League with Tottenham and Manchester United reportedly showing an interest in the centre-half.
However, Sabatini admits that the Bundesliga club, who are now managed by the former England manger McClaren, are favourites to sign the sought-after Dane following an impressive two seasons in Sicily.

reterete 24: "For Simon Kjaer, there could well be a real deal. I believe that Wolfburg will be his likely destination."
Cavani interest
Meanwhile, the 43-year-old former Roma and Parma midfielder admits that there is still plenty of interest in striker Edinson Cavani.
The Uruguay star has been linked with a move to Tottenham, according to recent press reports, but Sabatini says the Serie A club will have to wait until the end of the World Cup before they consider any offers for the 23-year-old.
He said: "A couple of clubs have tried for him in Russia, but there are demands from England and Germany. We will have to wait for the conclusion of Uruguay's World Cup campaign before the situation is resolved."
Sabatini also denied that Palermo are interested in signing Catania midfielder Marco Biagianti.
The 26-year-old has been at the Sicilian club for three years making 90 appearances but Sabatini admits that there are 'no negotiations' for the midfielder.
"Purchase of Biagianti? There are no negotiations for him," admitted Sabatini.
"It is easier for us to sign a Brazilian than the Catania midfielder. In recent days I met Pietro Lo Monaco (Catania CEO) and all we did was talk. An exchange of appreciation of our teams, but nothing more."
