Scaloni shocked by English pace

Lionel Scaloni is enjoying life at West Ham, but admits he has been left shocked by the pace of life in The Premiership.

The Argentine international joined The Hammers on loan from Deportivo La Coruna for the remainder of the season during the January transfer window in a bid to secure regular first-team football.

He insists he would not have contemplated quitting Depor if he had been part of the first-team picture at The Riazor, but has been pleasantly surprised by English football.

"I am delighted, it's a very impressive experience," he stated.

"I left Depor only because of footballing reasons, if it has been about the fans I would never leave.

"It was a very hard, but necessary decision."

The 27-year-old made his Hammers debut in last weekend's 2-0 win over Sunderland and already shares his team-mates' ambitions of securing a place in Europe.

However, he was taken aback by the speed of the game in England.

"We have an objective and that is to get in Europe," he continued.

"West Ham are a team with great tradition in The Premiership.

"I felt good on my debut, I played at full back and the only thing that troubled me was the speed of this league."
