Lucarelli commits to Livorno

Cristiano Lucarelli has agreed a new three-year contract with Livorno.

Cristiano Lucarelli has agreed a new deal with Livorno to quash speculation linking the player with a move away from the Tuscan club.

The 30-year-old had held summit talks with president Aldo Spinelli after doubts the player had concerning the club's long-term ambitions.

Lucarelli was on the verge of a move to Zenit St Petersburg earlier this summer, only to reject the switch and Spinelli has since claimed the player is not for sale.

Juventus also registered an interest, with Lucarelli's Livorno future shrouded in doubt, but the uncertainty has now been put to rest.

"The club and the player have agreed a new deal until 2010 which includes a number of important clauses," read a club statement.

"The two parties have acted exclusively for the interest of the club and all Livorno supporters."

Meanwhile, Livorno have completed the signing of Jose Luis Vidigal from Udinese.

The Portuguese midfielder terminated his contract by mutual consent with Udinese and has now signed a two-year agreement with Livorno.
