Bolton youngster keen to play against Birmingham

Bolton Wanderers wingback Marcos Alonso is relishing the chance to play against Birmingham City away from home in the Championship on Tuesday. The 21-year-old started his first game for the Trotters in almost six months against Watford on Saturday, and helped them to a 2-1 victory at the Reebok Stadium. Alonso, who joined Bolton from Real Madrid in July 2010, was delighted to be back in the team and is hoping for a second successive start against the Blues. "It was nice to be back in the team," he said in The Manchester Evening News. "After doing a really good pre-season, seeing that I wasn't in the side against Burnley [on the opening day of the campaign] was difficult. It was hard to keep going. "I really need a lot of games to keep up my confidence and my fitness. I think if I can do that, you'll see a very different Marcos Alonso and I'm sure people will enjoy that." Bolton are currently 11th in the table with seven points from five matches, four points behind leaders Blackburn Rovers.
