Rodriguez targets big move

Villarreal's Gonzalo Rodriguez admits would love to join a 'big club' in the summer.

Gonzalo Rodriguez has admitted he would love to join a 'big club' in the summer, but is prepared to bide his time with Villarreal.

The impressive Argentine centre back, who joined from San Lorenzo last June, has been adapted instantly to life in la Liga turning in a host of commanding displays.

Already a target for Juventus before his switch to Spain, the 20-year-old now counts Barcelona amongst his admirers.

The South American concedes he would jump at the chance of a move to one of Europe's top clubs, but insists he is more than happy to remain with Villarreal in the meantime.

"I can't deny that the interest in me from big clubs is something that I like, but I am young, very happy at Villarreal and, for now, my intention is to continue here for many years," he stated.

"What I am trying to do is ignore the rumours because they are things that you are not sure will come true, so I don't give them much attention.

"My principal objective is to try and finish this year well and help my team get as far as possible.

"Then, I can't deny that every player would like to join a big club, but the best way of doing that is to play well for my team and do well at Villarreal in the next few years."
